A Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is an essential document for businesses in India. It serves as a unique identifier for tax purposes and is required for various financial transactions. If you are starting a business or already running one, it is crucial to have a PAN card in the name of your business entity. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of obtaining a Business PAN card.

Step 1: Determine the Applicable Business Entity: Before applying for a Business PAN card, you need to determine the type of business entity you are operating. Common business structures in India include Sole Proprietorship, Partnership Firm, Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), and Private Limited Company. The process and documents required may vary depending on the business entity.

Step 2: Gather the Required Documents: Once you have identified your business structure, gather the necessary documents for your PAN card application. The typical documents required for a Business PAN card application include:

  1. Identity proof of the authorized signatory (e.g., Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license, passport).
  2. Address proof of the business entity (e.g., utility bills, bank statements, lease agreement).
  3. Certificate of incorporation or partnership deed, depending on the business structure.
  4. Copy of the business entity’s registration certificate (e.g., GST registration certificate).
  5. Photographs of the authorized signatory.

Step 3: Fill out the Application Form: Obtain Form 49B, the application form for a PAN card, from the official website of the Income Tax Department of India or designated service providers. Carefully fill out the form with accurate details, ensuring there are no errors or discrepancies. Double-check the information provided before submitting the form.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee: Pay the prescribed fee for the PAN card application. The fee can be paid online through the designated payment methods available on the Income Tax Department’s website. The fee amount may vary, so it is advisable to check the latest fee structure before making the payment.

Step 5: Submit the Application: Once you have completed the application form and made the payment, submit the application along with the required documents to the nearest NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) or UTITSL (UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited) office. Ensure that you include all the necessary documents and photographs as per the requirements.

Step 6: Track Application Status: After submitting the application, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt containing a unique 15-digit acknowledgment number. Use this number to track the status of your PAN card application online through the official website of NSDL or UTITSL. The processing time can vary, but it typically takes around 15-20 working days to receive the PAN card.

Step 7: Receive the PAN Card: Once the application is processed and approved, the PAN card will be dispatched to the address mentioned in the application form. Ensure that the authorized signatory or a responsible person is available at the address to receive the PAN card.

Conclusion:

Obtaining a Business PAN card is an essential step for any business entity operating in India. It is a crucial document for taxation purposes and enables smooth financial transactions. By following the step-by-step guide provided in this blog post, you can ensure a hassle-free process of obtaining a Business PAN card. Every Indian citizen has to link their Aadhar card with their bank account. The deadline for linking the 12-digit UID number on the Aadhar to the bank account was December 31, 2017. However, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently clarified that the NRIs don’t have to link their account with PAN or Aadhar card.

Theft and frauds are also common in passports. To avoid any problem, Aadhar card can be a helpful document.  In addition, NRIs can also vote and do financial transactions easily in the future. How new rules on PAN and Aadhar linking would impact NRIs?

As of July 1, 2017, taxpayers have to link their PAN with Aadhar card and it has become mandatory. But there was still confusion whether those rules are applied to NRIs.

Only those people who have lived in India for 182 days in total (in 12 months before the date of applying for Aadhar) can get an Aadhar card. If an NRI has an Aadhar card already, they need to register on the e-filing Income Tax portal, for the first time. Then, they can link their Aadhar with PAN. Why do you need to Link your Aadhar with PAN Card?

The Income Tax department has extended the deadline to link PAN card to the Aadhaar to 1st April 2020. This is the eighth time the deadline has been extended. After the Supreme Court announced its verdict about the Aadhaar in 2018, the 12-digit identification number is mandatory for filing your income tax returns and also to acquire a Permanent Account Number (PAN) card.

From Now onwards Income Tax Department made it compulsory for all the taxpayers to link their Aadhar with PAN card so that further process of income can be processed.

If there is a failure to do so till April 1, 2021, then your PAN will become inoperative i.e. you can’t be able to use your PAN card for any financial transaction where PAN card is compulsory (opening of bank A/c).

After April 1, 2021, the one can’t be able to file ITR without linking the first two.

What Points Should be Considered while linking Aadhar with PAN card?

Conditions need to be considered while linking Aadhar with Pan Card:

  1. The name of the applicant on both the documents (Aadhar & PAN) should be the same; however minor changes can be further processed.
  2. You must have available the mobile number registered with the Aadhar.
  3. Date of Birth on both the documents (Aadhar& PAN) should be the same and in the correct format (DD/MM/YYYY).
